ISOTEX like many European and Italian manufacturing plants, closes the factory every August for a mandatory annual summer shutdown – a tradition known as “factory fortnight”. This means production at their main manufacturing plant in Poviglio, Italy, pauses briefly.
This downtime occurs for two primary reasons:
- Worker Well-Being & Holidays: Historically, before modern air conditioning, European factories were incredibly uncomfortable in the peak summer heat. Shutting down allows staff to take a well-deserved, extended vacation while schools are closed for the summer.
- Essential Plant Maintenance: Continuous production runs non-stop, meaning machines face severe wear and tear. The August closure provides the time needed to safely shut down heavy machinery to carry out essential maintenance, cleanings, and repairs.
If you are planning an upcoming construction project, we encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible. We can then help you calculate your material needs and find out when you should place your orders before the shutdown period.
