There’s been great progress in recent months at The Eco Village, Findhorn, Scotland where Green Leaf Design & Build, who are at the forefront of sustainability and all things eco are building 16 of the most energy efficient homes in the country.
They are using the Isotex HDIII 44/23 “Green” blocks where even the insulation is made from 100% recycled insulation in a biomass plant.
The homes are being built on the KORE insulated foundation system and the concrete floor using Cebo cement which is sourced locally and has a 50% reduction of co2. Each home will have underfloor heating which is controlled from a district heating system, fed through the renewable energy generated from the solar roof panels and batteries. The first four terraced 2 x bed homes also have a curved “living roof” at the rear to blend in with the surrounding dunes in this conservation area and the first residents are looking forward to moving in during March 2026.
